"Not one of all the Lord's good promises...failed; "The time has come to go beyond half-way victory. It is time to break past the point of partial fulfillment." Those words awakened my spirit! My heart began to leap as they resounded deep within. I was preparing to deliver the word from Judges 4 and 5. Suddenly something brand new was being stirred by the Spirit from that passage. There was no mistaking that the Lord's original word to Barak through Deborah was that Sisera would be "given into your hands". Even with the modification brought about by Barak's reply to Deborah, the full intent of the Lord's plan was to not just rout the enemy but to take out Sisera. The prophetic word through Deborah released "this day" and the Lord responsed to the advance of Barak with divine participation. Barak pursued the chariots and army; the troops of Sisera fell by the sword; not a man was left (Judges 4:14-16). Not bad for a day which was launched at Mt. Tabor ("Tabor means weakness")... not bad for breaking the 20-year domination of the enemy. But there is a problem. Sisera had abandoned his chariot and fled on foot. With all the shouts of victory and with all the taking of the plunder, the commander of Jabin's Canaanite army was still "at large". The victory was only half-way! God intended for them to break past the point of partial fulfillment! And the Lord faithfully had a strategy to make that happen; His waiting "set-up" would mean that every declared word of the Lord would be "fully-filled". Sisera would be lured by the Lord into Jael's tent. By the end of the day, a hammer and a peg in the hand of Jael would mean that the Lord's full intent would be realized. Leadership had heard accurately and had responded vigorously. Victory was not only set in motion, the victory was fully realized! The courageous leadership of Deborah and Barak had actually released the involvement of Jael in the sphere of her own influence. Everything about this passage emphasizes partnership. We are in for a new season when the battle and the victory will be pushed beyond the initiating response of leadership to the participation of every believer in the sphere of his or her own influence. To miss this is to miss the full intention of God in His new-season strategy. Thus both in the big picture and in the personal arenas of our lives there now must be an expectation and a contending for the full measure of what the Lord desires and has declared. Don't leave Sisera loose! Don't settle for just the celebration of breakthrough. The Lord is releasing a grace to go beyond half-way victory and to break past the point of partial fulfillment. He really means that you will not just "hear" it but "hold it in your hands"! With rejoicing, Rev. Peggy I. Kennedy
