will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. Psalm 22:27-28 “When the Church finds her knees, I will bring her enemies to their knees!” Those were the words which I heard in my spirit. That was the announcement that began to reverberate through my entire being...and continues to resonate with the triumph of the Lord! What would it mean for the people of the Lord to “find their knees”? The scriptures are full of incidents when the Lord’s called ones, His chosen partners, “find their knees”. A classic example of this is Gideon. He had been encountered by His living God...the very God that Gideon had relegated to only past victories! Yes, this gracious God had called and convinced him that the enemy (Midian) who was dominating the land and defining life and defying even the potential of the land is about to be defeated by Gideon’s hand. His story (Judges 6,7,8) crescendos into victory: “Thus Midian was subdued before the Israelites and did not raise its head again!” (8:28). That word, “subdued” means to ”bend the knee”. What a picture of this enemy (whose name means “contender”) now brought to its knees and unable to even raise its head! Yet, before Midian was brought to its knees, Gideon “found his knees”! In 7:15 Gideon “worshipped”...and that word means to bow the knee! The fearful, unsure, and even ambivalent leader has just heard the words from the mouth of the enemy (a most unpredictable source!) that he will be partnering with God in an amazing victory! This was more than encouragement; this is an announcement! Now, this leader who finds his knees in worship rises up and rallies the troops to a day of victory which results in the enemy being brought to their knees in defeat! “When the Church finds her knees, I will bring her enemies to their knees!” So much is intended in that picture! The people of God (you and me!) are being reconnected to the very throne of God via our intercession and our worship! From that throne will flow the power of our Exalted One! Not only will our enemies (those forces which have contended fiercely against us) be subdued, but there is coming a great wave of saving power from the Name of Him who is seated on that throne and every knee must bow! Before that ultimate day declared in Philippians 2:9-11, we will see our loved ones, even resistive ones, begin to bow in surrender to the Saviour. Even nations and peoples groups which have been thought to be “unbendable” will join in the worship of our precious Jesus! Our worship releases His response of power! Intimacy and majesty are about to merge! You can see His glory best when you are on your knees!
