"Who has done such mighty deeds,
directing the affairs of the human race
as each new generation marches by?
It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he."
Isaiah 41:4 NLT (1996)

What a loaded question: "Where has the King been born?" There's even more weight of the Spirit on the answer: "Bethlehem". The supernatural star over that place of prophetic fulfillment signals a message for us today...for this day...for the new days ahead into which we are being ushered! Micah 5:2 declares the full name: Bethlehem "Ephratha"...and a powerful principle is attached to the prophecy that in a designated place there will be the manifestation of the Lord's superior rulership...eternal rulership: "whose origins are from old". Ephratha means "fruitful"! This verse and the record of the place called Bethlehem trumpets the capacity of the Lord to rule and over-rule all lesser powers in order for His ultimate, big-picture plan to be established. This is illustrated three times when Bethlehem is the "destination" in which divine drama is played out.

Ruth would understand that on a very personal level. Layered by loss, Ruth accompanies Naomi to Bethlehem. Yes, it will be a "house of bread" for her, but something much greater happens as she is wed to the wealthy land-owner redeemer, Boaz. She is ushered into the divine plan of God. She enters the very genealogy of the Christ; that's fruitfulness indeed! Whatever our personal negative scenario, the Lord can trump that for His divine purpose. Samuel was also sent to Bethlehem. His heart was heavy yet his horn of anointing oil was full. Samuel moves past his grief over the lost potential via human failure and discovers at the "house of bread" that even human failure on a national level ( like Saul's) cannot ultimately cancel the Lord's plans! There at Bethlehem Samuel exerts precision in fulfilling his assignment. Although the natural father (Jesse) passed over the shepherd boy, David, God did not! Samuel's persistence pays off as the horn of anointing oil is poured upon David, thus designating him as king. Even the resistance in days (years!!) ahead cannot cancel God's plan. The authority of the Lord prevails and the promise of God at Bethlehem ushers David into fruitfulness.

As Joseph and Mary arrive in Bethlehem, the continued supernatural fruitfulness is manifest. Some would say that it was the Roman ruler's decision to engineer their journey to Bethlehem. The full record of scripture tells a different story! Micah's prophecy, Ruth's turn-around, and Samuel's prophetic word all give witness that in the personal and in the political...in the immediate and in the ultimate, Bethlehem is the place of the Ruler! It's with that assurance, too, that we are being ushered into the Lord's "next" on the arm of the gracious, eternal Ruler! Be energized afresh by the awe and wonder that the very details of our lives display His mighty power. Be propelled forward by the fresh revelation of His rulership! In my spirit I see the Lord Himself ushering you into a room...then I see Him ushering others that then form a collective "whole"...then the Divine Usher goes and opens the door of the room, propping the door open so that those who are waiting can now enter...and not before! Heaven's ruler is ushering us in...

With rejoicing,
Rev. Peggy I. Kennedy
